Your Neighborhood Market

The East Asheville Tailgate Market was started in 2007 in the parking lot of Groce United Methodist Church. Previously known as the Riceville Tailgate Market in Swannanoa, it has transformed and grown into a collection of vendors with an eclectic array of products. We accept SNAP & EBT as well as Double SNAP & EBT for fresh fruits and vegetables. We are proud members of the Fruits & Vegetables Prescription Program.

Running during from April through November, you can find us every Friday from 3-6pm at 954 Tunnel Rd and from 2:30 - 5:30pm during our November markets. Stop by for some amazing local goods from your favorite neighborhood vendors selling dumplings, baked goods, ferments, bread, artisan cheese, meat, flowers, farm fresh vegetables, and more! We’ll see you soon at Asheville’s only Friday market!

Ellie and Daniel of Smallholding Farm one of our awesome weekly veggie vendors!

Our Staff

Anna Zurliene - Executive Director

Anna is rounding up her second season managing the East Asheville Tailgate Market. She believes food is a human right and strives to increase food access, especially through supporting our local food system. Beyond the market, she is a Community Connector with the Buncombe County Community Engagement Markets which offer free food to our neighbors, and she tends to the Dr. John Wilson Community Garden as a Senior Intern. Anna loves to cook for herself and her loved ones, experiment with herbalism, and swim outdoors.
